Encouragement for Christian Mums Who Feel Like They're Not Doing Enough
Share
Have you ever gone to bed feeling like you didn't quite do enough?
The washing is still in the basket.
The emails haven't been answered.
The house isn't as tidy as you'd like.
The children needed more attention.
The Bible study you planned didn't happen.
The to-do list seems longer than it did that morning.
As mums, it's easy to carry the weight of expectations. We often measure our days by what we accomplished rather than by the faithfulness of God that carried us through them.
As a Christian mum, I've had many days where I felt I was falling short. Some days homeschooling goes smoothly. Other days it doesn't. Some days I feel organised and productive. Other days I'm simply trying to keep everyone fed, loved and encouraged.
But God never asked us to be perfect.
He asks us to trust Him.
One of my favourite reminders is found in 2 Corinthians 12:9:
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
What a comfort that is.
God's grace is sufficient on the days when we feel strong and capable.
God's grace is sufficient on the days when we feel overwhelmed and exhausted.
God's grace is sufficient when we don't have all the answers.
As Christian mums, we are planting seeds every day, even when we cannot immediately see the fruit.
Every prayer whispered over a child.
Every Bible story shared.
Every act of kindness.
Every moment spent pointing our children towards Jesus.
These things matter.
The world often tells us to do more, be more and achieve more. God invites us to come to Him, rest in Him and trust Him.
If you've been feeling like you're not doing enough recently, I want to encourage you with this simple truth:
You do not need to carry tomorrow's burdens today.
Take one day at a time.
Ask God for wisdom.
Trust Him with your family.
And remember that your worth is not found in a completed to-do list but in being a beloved daughter of God.
Today, choose grace over guilt.
Choose faith over fear.
Choose to rest in the knowledge that God is working, even when you cannot see it.
A Prayer for Today
Lord, thank You for Your grace. Help me to trust You when I feel overwhelmed and inadequate. Remind me that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. Help me to serve my family with love and to rest in Your faithfulness. Amen.
